YouTube Video Downloader

Paste any YouTube watch, share, or Shorts link, compare the resolutions the uploader published, and save a playable MP4.

Every resolution the uploader published is listed with its expected download size.

Picture and sound arrive separately from YouTube and are joined in your tab.

  • MP4 files that keep their sound
  • Up to 1080p without an account
  • 4K and long videos on RuneOne

How to use YouTube Video Downloader

Three steps take you from a copied link to a finished MP4: identify the video, choose how large a file you want, and let the tab assemble it.

  1. 1

    Paste the YouTube link

Copy the address from the browser bar, the Share button, or the Shorts player and drop it into the field. Selecting Get Video asks YouTube which resolutions that upload actually offers.

  2. 2

    Compare the resolutions

Each row names a resolution, its pixel dimensions, the frame rate, and roughly how many megabytes the finished file will occupy. Higher rows mean sharper footage and a noticeably longer wait.

  3. 3

    Save the merged MP4

Selecting Download fetches the picture track, then the sound track, then joins them without re-encoding. Leave the tab open until your browser reports the file as saved.

Resolution list with sizes

Instead of a single generic button, the page lists what the uploader published and how heavy each option is, so a slow connection can pick something realistic.

Sound kept intact

YouTube stores high resolutions without sound. The two tracks are joined here so the saved MP4 plays with audio in any ordinary player.

Joined on your device

The merge step runs inside the tab rather than on a queue somewhere, so your video never waits behind other people's jobs to finish.

Streamed, never stored

The server relays bytes from YouTube to your browser as they arrive and keeps no copy of the video once the connection closes.

Audio-only shortcut

An audio row saves the sound track by itself as an M4A, which is quicker when only the spoken content or the music matters.

Shorts and long uploads

Watch links, youtu.be share links, Shorts URLs, and bare eleven-character video IDs are all accepted in the same field.

Free tier and RuneOne

Everyone gets 1080p on videos up to twenty minutes. RuneOne lifts the ceiling to 4K and multi-hour uploads, which is where the heavy transfers live.

YouTube Video Downloader privacy and processing

This page reads a public YouTube address and relays the media it points to. It does not ask for your YouTube account, and the video it fetches is not retained anywhere after the transfer.

Processing Split

A Rune server asks YouTube for the picture track and the sound track, streams both to you without saving a copy, and your browser joins them into the final MP4.

Storage None

Nothing is written to disk on our side. The tracks pass straight through the server, and the joined MP4 exists only in the tab until your browser saves it.

YouTube Video Downloader account access

Signed-out visitors get the free tier straight away. Signing in tracks the daily count against your account instead of your connection, and a paid plan lifts the ceilings.

Before You Use YouTube Video Downloader

A few things decide whether a given video downloads cleanly and whether saving it is yours to do.

Rights

Download material you own, material published under a licence that permits it, or material you have written permission to keep.

Re-uploading somebody else's video, or using it in your own work without clearance, stays a copyright problem no matter which tool produced the file.

Availability

Private uploads, members-only videos, purchased films, and age-restricted material will not return tracks, because YouTube never serves them to a signed-out viewer.

Live broadcasts have no finished file to fetch, so wait until the stream ends and the recording is published.

Time

A 4K feature-length upload can run into gigabytes, and both the transfer and the joining step scale with that size.

Switching one row down from the top usually cuts the wait dramatically while still looking sharp on a phone or laptop.

Plan

Rows above your plan's ceiling stay visible but locked, so you can see exactly what a paid tier would add before deciding.

The duration cap is checked against the video itself, which means a long upload is refused before any bytes move.

Device

The joining step holds both tracks in the tab's memory, so an older phone may struggle where a laptop copes easily.

Keep the tab in the foreground until the file is saved, since a backgrounded tab can have its memory reclaimed mid-merge.

Limits

Resolution choices come from whatever YouTube publishes for that video, so a 4K option only appears when the uploader provided one.

Free downloads cover resolutions to 1080p and videos to 20 minutes, five per day; RuneOne unlocks 1440p and 4K, far longer videos, and a bigger daily count.

Questions about YouTube Video Downloader

Why is the downloaded video silent on other sites?

YouTube publishes anything above 360p without an audio channel. Tools that hand you the raw picture track produce a silent file; this page fetches the sound track as well and joins the two before saving.

Can I download a video in 4K?

4K and 1440p rows are part of RuneOne. They appear in the list for everyone but stay locked on the free tier, and they only show up at all when the uploader actually published that resolution.

Do Shorts links work here?

They do. A Shorts address, a youtu.be share link, a normal watch URL, and a bare eleven-character video ID are all recognised by the same field, so you can paste whichever one you copied.

How many videos can I download in a day?

Five a day on the free tier, thirty on Plus, and no daily cap on RuneOne Pro or Ultimate. One video counts once even though the picture and sound arrive as two separate transfers.

Why can I not download a full-length film?

Each plan has a maximum video length, starting at twenty minutes and rising to several hours on RuneOne. Very long videos move enormous amounts of data, so the cap keeps the tool usable for everybody.

Is downloading a YouTube video allowed?

That depends on the video and where you are. Keeping your own uploads or openly licensed material is normally fine, while saving someone else's copyrighted work without permission is not, so check before you download.
