How we handle copyright infringement claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

1. Overview

Rune ("we", "us", or "our") respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA), we will respond promptly to claims of copyright infringement committed using our platform.

If you believe that content available on or through rune.codes infringes your copyright, please submit a notification as described below.

2. Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

To file a DMCA takedown notice, please provide the following information in writing:

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  • Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and where it is located on our platform (provide specific URLs).
  • Your contact information, including your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

4. Counter-Notification

If you believe that your content was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification with the following information:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it previously appeared.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located.

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the party who filed the original takedown notice. If the original party does not file a court action within 10 business days, we may restore the removed content.

5. Repeat Infringers

In accordance with the DMCA, we will terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. We may also, at our sole discretion, limit access to our platform or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

6. User-Processed Content

Rune provides browser-based tools for file processing (PDFs, images, text, etc.). Most processing happens entirely in your browser and files are never uploaded to our servers. We do not store, index, or have access to the content of files you process using our tools.

For features that require server-side processing or cloud storage (such as URL shortening, code sharing, or file sharing), users are responsible for ensuring they have the right to share or process the content they upload.

7. Good Faith

Please note that under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be subject to liability for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Do not make false claims.
